Manchester, England – The door to the Premiership title race swung back open on Sunday as Everton came from two goals down in the final seven minutes to claim a 4-4 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The result, combined with Manchester City's 2-0 win over Wolverhampton on Sunday, cuts City's deficit to three points at the top of the league with the two sides set to square off in a vital showdown next Monday at the Etihad Stadium.
Nikica Jelavic put the Toffees ahead in the 33rd minute with a header, but Wayne Rooney had the answer for United shortly before halftime when he nodded home Nani's cross from inside the six-yard box.
United appeared to take charge in the second half with a wonderful strike from Danny Welbeck at the edge of the penalty area, while Nani scored a few minutes later after a nice one-touch pass from Welbeck to cap a nice build up from the home side.
Marouane Fellaini's volley pulled the visitors to within a goal, but Rooney once again looked to have cut off Everton's momentum as he netted his second goal of the contest just two minutes later.
The two-goal lead held up until the final 10 minutes when Jelavic scored to give Everton hope in the 83rd before Fellaini created space inside the area to slip a pass to Steven Pienaar, who fired home the equalizer with a first-time shot past the helpless David De Gea.
United threw men forward in an effort to snatch a dramatic winner, but the best chance came in stoppage time when Rio Ferdinand's shot from the top of the box was tipped over the crossbar by goalkeeper Tim Howard.
Manchester City 2, Wolverhampton 0
Wolverhampton, England - Manchester City moved to within three points of Manchester United on Sunday after securing a 2-0 win at Wolverhampton that sees the hosts become the first team to be relegated this season.
United's 4-4 draw with Everton earlier in the day opened the door for City, which got goals from Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri to set up a crucial match with Sir Alex Ferguson's side next Monday.
City wasn't at its free-flowing best in the first half but a brilliant piece of skill from defender Gael Clichy set up Aguero's goal as the Frenchman played an inch-perfect ball into Aguero's path from midfield that allowed him to slot his shot past goalkeeper Dorus De Vries.
Joe Hart had some work to do in the City goal as Wolves pressed for an equalizer. However, the second goal came 15 minutes from time as a quickly- taken free kick from Carlos Tevez found Clichy, who played Nasri into the area for a shot that found the far corner of the net to wrap up the win.
West Bromwich 1, Liverpool 0
Liverpool, England - Liverpool's struggles at home continued on Sunday as the club dropped a 1-0 contest to West Bromwich at Anfield despite dominating play for the large majority of the match.
Kenny Dalglish's side has won just once in its last seven home games but will feel extremely unlucky not to take anything away from Sunday's contest.
The pressure was significant in the second half as Jordan Henderson smashed a shot off the crossbar before the Reds went close again with Dirk Kuyt's shot being deflected off the post by West Brom's Liam Ridgewell.
Chris Brunt then cleared a shot from Jay Spearing off the goal line in a scramble before the Baggies netted the only goal against the run of play.
Youssuf Mulumbu took advantage of a turnover by Liverpool to play in Peter Odemwingie, who scored 15 minutes from time to move West Brom into the top half of the table.
