Everton trounced by Dynamo Kyiv

Kyiv, Ukraine (SportsNetwork.com) - Everton was dispatched from the Europa League in humiliating fashion on Thursday, suffering a 5-2 defeat at Dynamo Kyiv to bow out, 6-4, on aggregate.

The Toffees carried a 2-1 lead into the second leg but found themselves trailing after 21 minutes thanks to a superb curling effort from Andriy Yarmolenko that found the top corner.

Romelu Lukaku pulled one back for the English side eight minutes later with a stunning left-footed strike of his own, but the remainder of the match belonged to Dynamo as the Ukrainian side punished a host of defensive mistakes from the Premier League side to advance with ease.

Lukasz Teodorczyk restored the lead for Dynamo in the 35th minute before Miguel Veloso's shot two minutes later took a wicked deflection on its way past Tim Howard.

Oleg Gusev and Antunes struck 20 minutes apart in the second half to put the result to bed, and while Phil Jagielka netted a consolation goal eight minutes from time, Everton heads home to see all of England's clubs eliminated from European contention this term.

AS Roma also crashed out of the Europa League in horrific fashion on Thursday, suffering a 3-0 home loss to Fiorentina to bow out to its fellow Serie A club.

The visitors were in control from the start as goals from Gonzalo Rodriguez, Marcos Alonso and Jose Maria Basanta in the opening 22 minutes sealed Roma's fate, dooming the club to a disappointing exit by a 4-1 aggregate score.

Wolfsburg continued its Europa League push by advancing with a 2-1 victory over Inter Milan at the San Siro on Thursday.

After rallying for a 3-1 win in the opening leg, the German club went through thanks to goals from Daniel Caligiuri and Nicklas Bendtner in either half.

Sevilla also advanced by a 5-2 aggregate score as a 2-1 home win on Thursday put the club in the quarterfinals at the expense of fellow La Liga side Villarreal.

Following a 3-1 road victory in the first leg, Sevilla cruised to the next round with Vicente Iborra and Denis Suarez providing the goals to oust the Yellow Submarine.

Club Brugge advanced to the quarterfinals in emphatic fashion, claiming a 3-1 win at Besiktas on Thursday to go through by a 5-2 aggregate score.

Rounding out Thursday's slate, Dnipro needed extra time but managed to oust Ajax despite suffering a 2-1 loss to the Dutch side at the Amsterdam ArenA.
