England retained its highest-ever place in the latest FIFA men's world rankings released Wednesday, staying put in third place.

The top-three remains unchanged from last month as Spain leads the field and Germany sits second.

The rest of the top 10 stayed the same except for Portugal (fourth) and Uruguay (fifth) swapping places. Italy (sixth), Argentina (seventh), Netherlands (eighth), Croatia (ninth) and Denmark (10th) remained unchanged.

Belgium enjoyed a significant jump to move into the top-50, climbing 13 spots to occupy 40th place. Austria also made a big leap to narrowly crack the top-50, jumping up 11 spots to 49th place.

The next edition of the rankings will be released Oct. 3.
