Emani Gant scored 17 points and D.J. Brown added 15 more to lead Texas State to a 62-53 come-from-behind win over Seattle in the season opener for both teams Friday night.

Texas State trailed by as much 12 in the first half but narrowed the gap to 33-26 at the break, then opened the second half with a 9-3 burst fueled by back-to-back 3-pointers from Brown that made it 36-35. Cameron Naylor hit the go-ahead jumper with 6:02 left, making 49-48 and the Bobcats padded and protected the lead down the stretch.

Kavin Gilder-Tilbury added 10 points for Texas State, which struggled with turnovers in the first half.

Seattle was led by Isiah Umipig, who had 23 points on 8-for-13 shooting, including 7 of 9 from 3-point range. Deshaun Sunderhaus added 10 points for the Redhawks, who were 50 percent from beyond the arc.
