Aston Villa announced the signing of midfielder Karim El Ahmadi from Feyenoord on a three-year contract on Monday.

El Ahmadi played a key role in Feyenoord finishing second in the Eredivisie last season behind Ajax and securing a place in the Champions League.

"I'm very excited about coming here to a massive club, and I'm looking forward to playing here," El Ahmadi told Villa's official website.

"This club should be competing in the top half of the table, and I am looking forward to achieving that with the team."

The 27-year-old started 19 games in the league for Feyenoord last season, and after playing for the Netherlands as a youth international, he decided to represent Morocco on the senior international level, earning more than 15 caps since 2008.
