An Eastern Washington University freshman football player is being investigated for the alleged rape of an unconscious 17-year-old girl in a campus dormitory Sunday morning.

According to court documents, Dalis Bruce, 18, of Anaheim, Calif., assaulted the girl after she became intoxicated and passed out during a night of drinking. Witnesses say friends put the girl in bed but later found Bruce in the Pearce Hall room, with the girl's clothes removed from the waist down and the player on top of her.

The friends said they told Bruce to leave the room. The alleged victim gained consciousness after officers arrived on the scene.

A report by KREM.com said Bruce first denied having sex with the alleged victim, but later admitted to some sexual contact.

After being taken into custody and charged with second degree rape and residential burglary, Bruce posted $25,000 bail and was released on Monday. He faces arraignment on Aug. 28.

Bruce is a wide receiver and member of Eastern Washington's 2012 recruiting class. He graduated from St. John Bosco High in Bellflower, Calif.

The EWU athletic program suspended Bruce on Monday pending the investigation.
