Borussia Dortmund took another step towards reclaiming the Bundesliga title by coming from behind to win the latest edition of the Revierderby in a 2-1 defeat of Schalke at Veltins-Arena on Saturday.

The storied rivalry initially went in favor of the home side as Jefferson Farfan struck in the ninth minute, but Dortmund was able to level the score through defender Lukasz Piszczek eight minutes later.

The match remained deadlocked until the 63rd minute when Sebastian Kehl provided the game-winner to open up a nine-point lead atop the Bundesliga table. Bayern Munich was held to a scoreless draw by Mainz later in the day to make it an eight-point deficit.

The win not only lifts Dortmund to 72 points on the year, but it also extends the club's unbeaten run in league play to 25 games. The Borussians have not lost a Bundesliga match since falling to Hannover on Sept. 18 and are strong favorites to hoist the title with an eight-point lead and only three matches to go.

Schalke remains in third place despite dropping its second straight result. The Royal Blues sit 15 points off the pace set by Dortmund.

Bayern Munich 0, Mainz 0

Munich, Germany - Bayern Munich looks a certainty to miss out on the Bundesliga title after it was held to a 0-0 draw by Mainz at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

The Reds dropped two additional points back of first-place Borussia Dortmund, sitting second on 64 points.

Mainz, building upon its 4-0 defeat of Cologne last time out, improves to 37 points on the season.

Bayer Leverkusen 3, Hertha Berlin 3

Leverkusen, Germany - Bayer Leverkusen battled back to earn a point against 10-man Hertha Berlin in a thrilling 3-3 draw at the BayArena on Saturday.

Andre Schurrle and Stefan Kiessling handed Leverkusen a two-goal lead before Pierre Lasogga pulled one back. Hertha Berlin's Levan Kobiashvili was shown a straight red card in the 65th minute for denying a scoring chance in the box, but Simon Rolfes was unable to take advantage as he missed the ensuing kick from the penalty spot.

Against the odds, Berlin went in front thanks to two goals from Tunay Torun, but Kiessling was able to rescue Leverkusen with an equalizer six minutes from time.

Bayer Leverkusen, unbeaten in its last three league games, sits sixth on 45 points. Hertha Berlin is second from bottom on 28 points.

Hamburg 1, Hannover 0

Hamburg, Germany - Heung Min-Son scored the lone goal of Saturday's affair at Imtech Arena as his 12th-minute strike saw Hamburg claim a 1-0 win over Hannover.

The win lifts Hamburg five points clear of the relegation zone, a welcomed position after a 4-0 midweek defeat to Hoffenheim left Thorsten Fink's side sweating in a dangerous position.

Hannover sits seventh in the Bundesliga on 44 points.

Nurnberg 2, Kaiserslautern 0

Kaiserslautern, Germany - Kaiserslautern fell closer to relegation confirmation on Saturday with a disappointing home defeat, losing 2-0 to Nurnberg at Fritz-Walter-Stadion.

Nurnberg claimed its second straight win thanks to Daniel Didavi and Tomas Pekhart, whose goals lifted the Bavarians to 38 points and a comfortable position away from danger.

Kaiserslautern remains bottom of the table on 20 points after its sixth- straight defeat.

Augsburg 2, Wolfsburg 1

Wolfsburg, Germany - Sebastian Langkamp helped Augsburg claim a 2-1 victory at Wolfsburg on Saturday thanks to a goal two minutes from time.

Torsten Oehrl gave the visitors the lead in the 13th minute, but Patrick Helmes equalized for Wolfsburg 14 minutes later. The two sides remained tied until the dying minutes when Langkamp popped up with the winner to lift Augsburg four points clear of the relegation zone.

Wolfsburg is stuck on 40 points after losing three straight games.
