Davie, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Dolphins have signed offensive lineman Shelley Smith to a multi-year contract.

Smith joins Miami after spending the past two seasons with the St. Louis Rams.

"I would like to welcome Shelley Smith as the newest addition to the Miami Dolphins," said Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey. "Shelley is a 26-year old ascending player who will be a good fit for our offensive line."

The 6-foot-4, 312-pound Smith played in 25 games with eight starts over the past two seasons with the Rams.

Smith was selected by Houston in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. In 2011, he spent the season on injured reserve following an injury suffered during training camp.
