Los Angeles Dodgers starter Zack Greinke has been voted as the National League's Pitcher of the Month for August, Major League Baseball announced on Wednesday.

Greinke finished his August campaign with a perfect 5-0 record over five starts. The right-hander posted a league-leading 1.23 earned run average over the course of the month while striking out 30 and holding opponents to a .211 batting average.

The 29-year-old outdueled St. Louis ace Adam Wainwright on Aug. 5, allowing two runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings as the Dodgers edged out the Cardinals 3-2 at Busch Stadium.

Greinke also won the monthly award in April of 2009 when he was a member of the Kansas City Royals.

Other pitchers receiving votes included Greinke's Los Angeles teammates Clayton Kershaw and Ricky Nolasco, Miami's Jose Fernandez and Atlanta's Craig Kimbrel.
