LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Jonathan Broxton may be out for the rest of season due to his troubling elbow injury, the team said Tuesday.
Broxton, who has not pitched since early May, was set to return from the disabled list before a scan revealed he was still battling the bone bruise that originally sidelined him.
"To me, at this point, if he gets back, great, all the better. But you've got to kind of move forward," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly told the team's website (losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com).
"We're at a timetable now that's getting to be so far out again that -- he did that once, he did the three weeks, the slow return and all that, and we got back to here.
"It's just hard to say, you know, 'We're going to get him in six weeks, or seven weeks, or eight weeks.'"
After making his second straight All Star Game last season, the hard-throwing Broxton has endured a tough run.
Broxton has a 5.68 ERA with just seven saves this season.
