Toronto, ON – The Los Angeles Dodgers selected the contract of pitcher Carlos Marmol from Double-A Chattanooga on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old Marmol had been the Cubs' embattled closer, but was shipped to LA on July 2 along with cash considerations for fellow reliever Matt Guerrier.
He did not post a decision in five appearances between Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and Chattanooga, allowing two runs in five innings in total.
To make room on the roster, the Dodgers placed pitcher Jose Dominguez on the 15-day disabled list with a left quad strain.
Dominguez was brought up on June 29, and pitched to a 2.16 earned run average in nine games.
