The Arizona Diamondbacks placed outfielder Jason Kubel on the paternity list on Wednesday.

Kubel, 30, left the team Wednesday morning and returned to Arizona for the birth of his second child. As per MLB rule, he will miss at least one day and a maximum of three days.

He is hitting .297 with four home runs and 23 RBI this season, his first with the D-backs after signing a two-year deal with the club in the offseason.

To replace Kubel on the roster, outfielder A. J. Pollock has been recalled from Triple-A Reno.

Pollack, 24, was hitting .354 with nine doubles and 13 RBI in 22 games with Reno this season.
