DeRozan leads Raptors into Philadelphia

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Raptors look to stop a four-game road losing streak when they visit the Philadelphia 76ers Friday at Wells Fargo Center.

The Raptors are 10-11 away from home and last prevailed as the guest on Jan. 3 against the Washington Wizards.

Toronto ended a two-game slide and won for the fifth time in eight tries with Wednesday's 93-85 triumph over the Dallas Mavericks at Air Canada Centre, where DeMar DeRozan scored a career-high 40 points on 15-of-22 shooting. Greivis Vasquez had 17 points off the bench and Jonas Valanciunas chipped in 12 and 10 rebounds for the Raptors, who scored 25 points on 21 Dallas turnovers and rebounded from a 34-15 hole after 12 minutes.

"The first quarter, I thought it was going to be a blowout, but the second half we kind of got things under control," Raptors coach Dwane Casey said.

DeRozan, meanwhile, has scored 20 or more points in nine-of-12 games this month and is third in the East with 24.2 ppg in January. He is averaging 30.0 ppg in two games against the 76ers this season.

Philadelphia will play its next three games in the City of Brotherly Love and owns an 8-12 mark as the host.

The Sixers recorded their second win in nine tries with Wednesday's 110-106 triumph against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, as Evan Turner pumped in a career-best 34 points on 13-of-22 shooting to go along with 11 rebounds.

Rookie Michael Carter-Williams had 19 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, while Thaddeus Young netted 19 points as well. James Anderson rounded out the double-digit scorers for Philly with 18 points.

"Anytime we can combine pace with sharing it's a good thing," said Sixers coach Brett Brown. "Tonight we happened to shoot threes rather well. We didn't turn it over."

Philadelphia made 15-of-33 from downtown and outscored New York by a 50-26 advantage in the paint. Carter-Williams is averaging 25.0 ppg over the past two games after averaging 8.5 ppg the two games prior.

The Sixers will also host Oklahoma City and Phoenix on the stay and have lost the first two meetings with Toronto this season. Toronto has dropped four of its past six trips to Wells Fargo Center.
