The Chicago Cubs dismissed hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo and named James Rowson the team's interim hitting coach on Tuesday.

Rowson had served the last four years as the organization's minor league hitting coordinator. He joined the Cubs after spending six years in the New York Yankees organization.

The club named Tom Beyers interim minor league hitting coordinator.

Jaramillo was named the Cubs hitting coach after the 2009 season and was in his third season in his role.

The Cubs rank 14th in the National League in runs scored, 10th in batting average and 15th in on-base percentage.
