A Ukrainian soccer team in Crimea says it was denied a request to postpone Sunday's game.

Tavria Simferopol is currently in Turkey and is scheduled to play Dynamo Kiev. Tavria sought the postponement because of "circumstances that are beyond its control." In Crimea, a tense standoff is in place between Russian forces and besieged Ukrainian military bases.

The Ukrainian league declined to comment, but Tavria says the league responded by finding "no basis to consider the club's request."

Tavria says it is "doing everything possible for the match to be played, according to schedule."

FC Sevastopol, the other Crimean club in the domestic league, is already in Dnipropretrovsk, where it will play FC Dnipro on Saturday.
