Oxnard, CA – The Dallas Cowboys announced Friday that guard Nate Livings is scheduled to undergo a scope on his ailing right knee, a procedure that could put his status for the season opener in question.
Livings, a 16-game starter at left guard last year, had surgery on the same knee in February and had just returned to practice after missing some time with a cut on his foot.
The seven-year veteran, who signed a five-year, $18.7 million free-agent deal with Dallas prior to last season, is expected to be sidelined anywhere from 2- to-4 weeks. The Cowboys begin their regular season Sept. 8 against the New York Giants.
Livings' injury is the latest blow to a Dallas offensive line that's had several members down during camp. Right guard Mackenzy Bernadeau remains on the active/physically unable to perform list due to a hamstring strain, while reserve guards Ryan Cook (back) and Kevin Kowalski (knee) and tackles Jermey Parnell (hamstring) and Demetress Bell (conditioning) are not currently practicing as well.
The Cowboys are also presently without defensive end and franchise player Anthony Spencer, who had a knee scope of his own performed last week, and nose tackle Jay Ratliff (hamstring/PUP).
