LONDON – A British judge has issued a restraining order to stop protesters from the Occupy London movement disrupting the building of an Olympic basketball training camp.
A High Court judge issued the injunction on Wednesday after the Olympic Delivery Authority, the public body overseeing the building of Games venues, said protesters have set up a camp and stopped construction work on the site in Leyton Marsh, northeast London.
The ODA said the demonstrators had "harassed and threatened" construction works and repeatedly blocked trucks from getting on the site.
Local residents and the protesters fear that the construction will close off the green space to the public, but the ODA insisted the basketball training facility is a temporary structure.
