Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Indianapolis Colts made it official on Tuesday, placing wide receiver Reggie Wayne on injured reserve, ending his due to a torn ACL in his right knee.
While Colts head coach Chuck Pagano made the announcement on Monday, Tuesday the Colts officially placed him on IR.
Wayne was hurt on a non-contact play while trying to catch a low pass from Andrew Luck in the fourth quarter of the Colts' 39-33 win over the Denver Broncos.
The 34-year-old veteran was leading the Colts with 38 receptions and 503 yards in seven games. His streak of 189 consecutive games, longest among active players, has come to an end.
Wayne is in his 13th NFL season, all with Indianapolis. He has 1,006 catches for 13,566 yards with 80 touchdowns in his career.
To fill the vacated roster spot, the Colts signed free agent cornerback Jalil Brown.
Brown was waived by the Kansas City Chiefs prior to the start of the season. In two years with the Chiefs, he recorded 22 tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery in 29 games.
