Anthony Raffa came off the bench to score 23 points, including the final nine for Coastal Carolina, as the Chanticleers defeated Winthrop 61-56 on Saturday night.

Raffa hit 9 of 10 free-throw attempts, including 7 of 8 in the final 1:32 to help Coastal Carolina (24-2, 15-0 Big South Conference) win its 22nd consecutive game.

Winthrop (12-13, 8-7), which had won three straight, led by 11 with 19:46 left, but the Chanticleers tied the score at 35-all on Desmond Holloway's jumper with 11:37 to play.

Coastal Carolina built a 50-42 lead on Holloway's 3-pointer with 5:01 left and extended it to 58-48 on Raffa's layup with 46 seconds to play.

Sam McLaurin scored 12 points, Chad Gray added 11 and Holloway had 12 rebounds for Coastal Carolina.

Robbie Dreher scored 16 points, Reggie Middleton had 13, and Charles Corbin added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles.
