Coach K talks about his secret Twitter and Instagram accounts

Duke Blue Devils and Team USA basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski doesn't have public Twitter or Instagram, but that doesn't mean he's not keeping tabs on social media. Coach K revealed last year that he uses Twitter under an alias, and former Duke star Jahlil Okafor said before the 2015 Draft that the team can always tell when Kyzyzewski is checking in on bus rides.

Coach K joined J.J. Redick on the latest epsiode of Redick's podcast and explained how he uses social media.

"Redick: You seemed initially to be averse to new technology and social media, but in the last year I did learn that you have an Instagram account. I still don't know what your username is, but I know that you see pics of my son.

Coach K: Well, and Twitter. I have an alias. I follow just about all of our former players, our current players, recruits and some key people. It just keeps me abreast of what's going on. I love, you know like with your family, seeing the pictures. Keeps it close. I share them with my family.

But I don't want anybody contacting me. I don't want to have that type of dialogue. I'd rather call you or text you or whatever. I don't personally want to have followers. Again, I'm not against anybody who does it, I like doing it this way."

Coach K also reflected on his tenure as the coach of Team USA, which he never suspected would happened, and shared an interesting story about how he had to adapt to working with the best players in the world.

"I can remember meeting I had. I had a meeting with Jason Kidd, Dwyane Wade, Kobe and LeBron, and we're getting ready to start a camp. I said 'well, we should practice twice a day. We'll have one hard, and we'll just walk through another.' And they looked at me and they said 'we can't practice twice a day.'

And I didn't know if they were punking me, like I'm the college coach, but I wasn't, [so I said] 'what do you mean?'

They said 'well we each have our way of preparing. Pilates, yoga, weight training, extra shooting, stretching, conditioning. We each have our way of doing that, and if you can make sure there's certain times in the day where we can do that, we should practice once. But we'll be ready. And don't worry about conditioning, we'll be in condition.'

And I said 'Well, let's come up with a plan,' and we came up with a plan. Every morning, they had the morning until about 10 o'clock. They had breakfast, and in that morning you'd see them [doing] pilates, yoga, weight training.'"
