Clemson QB Boyd upgraded to probable vs. Maryland

Clemson, SC – Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd has been upgraded to probable for Saturday's road game against Maryland.

The sophomore quarterback threw for a touchdown and ran for another score before leaving early in the third quarter with a strained hip during this weekend's 36-14 win over Boston College.

Boyd, who completed 16-of-26 passes for 283 yards, was hurt on Clemson's opening drive of the second half. He was injured when he was hit by a Boston College defender while completing a pass to tight end Dwayne Allen for five yards.

Freshman Cole Stoudt took over for Boyd and finished with 37 yards through the air.

Head Coach Dabo Swinney said on his Sunday media teleconference that Boyd was much improved.

"Tajh was feeling much better today," said Swinney. "We really expect him to be back at practice full speed on Tuesday and be ready to play against Maryland."

For the season, Boyd ranks first in the ACC in passing yards per game (290), total offense (310.3) and is second in touchdown passes (15) for the eighth- ranked Tigers. He has completed 119-of-194 passes for 15 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He ranks 14th in the nation in total offense and 16th in passing efficiency.
