Manchester, England – Manchester City suffered another wobble in its race for the Premiership title as the Citizens needed two goals in the final five minutes to salvage a 3-3 draw with Sunderland on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium.
City fell behind by two goals in the opening 10 minutes of the second half after Sunderland's Sebastian Larsson netted his second goal of the contest to go along with a goal in first-half stoppage time from Nicklas Bendtner.
Mario Balotelli converted a penalty kick in the first half for City after Edin Dzeko went down inside the penalty area under a challenge from Craig Gardner. And Balotelli hauled City back into the match with a goal in the 85th minute after the hosts appeared out of it.
Aleksandar Kolarov scored on a powerful strike from outside the area less than one minute later to pull City level, but another goal was not in the cards and City now sits two points back of leaders Manchester United, who can take control of the league with a win against Blackburn on Monday.
After leading the table for most the season City has hit a rough patch with just five points earned from its last four games.
Sunderland moves into ninth place with the result and in its last four matches has claimed seven points.
Chelsea 4, Aston Villa 2
Birmingham, England - Chelsea improved its hopes of finishing in the top four after goals from Branislav Ivanovic and Fernando Torres in the last seven minutes saw the Blues claim a 4-2 win at Aston Villa on Saturday.
Chelsea appeared to be in control after goals from Daniel Sturridge and Ivanovic put the team up two goals entering the final 15 minutes.
But Villa netted two goals in a three-minute span to equalize as James Collins and Eric Lichaj both found the back of the net.
However the visitors charged back with Ivanovic restoring Chelsea's lead before Torres sealed the win with a stoppage-time goal to move the club to within two points of fourth-place Tottenham.
Everton 2, West Bromwich 0
Liverpool, England - Everton climbed to seventh in the Premiership table after notching a 2-0 win at home against a struggling West Bromwich side on Saturday.
Gareth McAuley's own goal handed Everton the lead after 18 minutes and Victor Anichebe netted his fourth of the campaign with a little over 20 minutes to play to help the Toffees jump ahead of rivals Liverpool in an effort to secure a place in Europe.
The Baggies remain eight points above the drop zone but have found themselves in a poor run of form having lost four straight games following a three-match winning streak.
Fulham 2, Norwich City 1
London, England - Fulham brought an end to its three-game losing streak on Saturday at Craven Cottage by holding on for a 2-1 win over Norwich City.
Clint Dempsey had Fulham in front inside of two minutes, and the American turned provider on a Damien Duff goal in the 13th minute to give the hosts control.
Norwich was second best for much of the match but managed to pull a goal back in the 77th minute through Aaron Wilbraham, who netted his first goal of the season to set up a nervous finish.
QPR 2, Arsenal 1
London, England - QPR boosted its survival hopes on Saturday at Loftus Road by slowing red-hot Arsenal and handing the Gunners a 2-1 defeat that snaps a string of seven successive wins by Arsene Wenger's side.
The hosts were first to strike when Adel Taarabt scored his first goal of the campaign after 22 minutes, only for Theo Walcott to cancel it out 15 minutes later for Arsenal.
QPR had lost two of its last three games but secured three vital points when January signing Samba Diakite finished off a pass from Jamie Mackie, leaving the club in the bottom three on goal difference after Bolton beat Wolverhampton.
Wigan 2, Stoke City 0
Wigan, England - Second-half goals from Antolin Alcaraz and Victor Moses helped Wigan collect three more points and put the club within reach of survival after a 2-0 win over Stoke City at the DW Stadium on Saturday.
The win is the first in seven months for the Latics at home, and leaves the club in the bottom three on goal difference after collecting eight points from its last four games.
After missing a few good chances in the first half Alcaraz eased some nerves with a headed goal in the 55th minute before Moses stole the ball from a Stoke defender in the offensive third and beat the goalkeeper to keep Wigan's hopes of avoiding relegation very much alive.
Bolton 3, Wolverhampton 2
Wolverhampton, England - Wolverhampton's bid for survival was dealt a serious blow on Saturday as Bolton came from a goal down in the second half to topple the home side, 3-2, and leave Wolves six points from safety.
Having lost its last four games, Wolverhampton needed a good start and got one when Michael Kightly put the home side in front after 53 minutes.
But things fell apart for Terry Connor's men with Martin Petrov equalizing from the penalty spot before Marcos Alonso put the Trotters ahead.
Kevin Davies then made it 3-1 in the 84th minute before Matt Jarvis pulled one back for Wolves a few minutes from time.
Having lost its last five games Wolves looks to be headed down, while Bolton has revived its survival chances with three successive wins following a four- game losing streak to sit one point above the drop zone.
