Three Ann Arbor City Council members say they want the University of Michigan to turn off the $2.8 million digital billboard outside Michigan Stadium because it distracts drivers.

Christopher Taylor and two others say they will present a resolution at a Nov. 7 council meeting. Taylor told MLive.com (http://bit.ly/1bcdY5s) they're asking Michigan to either decommission the billboard or only use it for sports events at the stadium or nearby Crisler Arena.

The billboard has been up several months. It is 21 feet above the ground, 27 feet tall and 48 feet wide.

Athletic director Dave Brandon has said the billboard is similar to those at other schools and says it's across the street from a golf course to avoid annoying people.
