The Chicago Blackhawks have signed forward Daniel Carcillo to a one-year contract.

The Blackhawks also assigned forward Teuvo Teravainen and defenseman Klas Dahlbeck to Rockford of the American Hockey League on Saturday. Teravainen is one of the team's top prospects, but Chicago is loaded at his position.

Carcillo played for Chicago for two seasons, winning the Stanley Cup in 2013, before he was traded to Los Angeles in July 2013. He played for the Kings and New York Rangers last season, finishing with four goals, one assist and 100 penalty minutes in 57 games.

Carcillo, who was selected by Pittsburgh in the third round of the 2003 draft, has 1,179 penalty minutes in 390 career games. He also has seven goals and seven assists in 45 career playoff appearances.
