London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Marouane Chamakh produced the lone goal at Selhurst Park on Tuesday as his 42nd-minute header granted Crystal Palace a 1-0 defeat of West Ham.

Palace took the lead at a quite opportune time, breaking the deadlock just before halftime when Barry Bannan collected a failed clearance from a corner kick and delivered a cross that was turned in by Chamakh's glancing header from close range.

The home side created a number of clear-cut scoring opportunities in the second half but failed to convert, while West Ham came close on several occasions only to be denied by the offside flag time after time.

Crystal Palace ultimately staved off some late pressure to secure all three points, bringing the club to 10 points on the season while handing manager Tony Pulis his first victory at Selhurst Park.

West Ham has lost three of its last four Premier League contests, leaving the Hammers on 13 points.
