That was probably one surprised caller when Pete Carroll's voice ended up on the other end of the line.

During the middle of Carroll's weekly news conference Wednesday, a reporter's phone being used as a voice recorder suddenly started ringing at the podium. Instead of waiting for the ringing to end, Carroll decided to answer the call.

"Someone's phone is ringing here. Let's check this out. ... Hello? No, not right now. This is a press conference. OK. Sorry, I'll get back to you," Carroll said. "Old friend from high school."

Once the laughter subsided, Carroll continued on with answering a question.

Carroll's Seahawks travel to Chicago an NFC divisional playoff game on Sunday.
