Cardinals' Pujols out 4-6 weeks with arm fracture
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}ST. LOUIS (Reuters) - St. Louis Cardinals All-Star slugger Albert Pujols will miss four-to-six weeks after fracturing his arm during a collision at first base, the team said on Monday.
An MRI performed on Monday showed a non-displaced fracture of the left forearm and the first baseman's arm was placed in a splint, the Cardinals said in a statement.
The injury creates a hole in the lineup of a St. Louis team that is tied with the Milwaukee Brewers for first place in the National League Central division.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The injury occurred in Sunday's game when Kansas City's Wilson Betemit hit a slow roller up the middle and then made contact with Pujols while trying to beat the throw to first base.
The contact knocked Pujols's glove off and the nine-times All-Star eventually took a few steps while holding his wrist before dropping to the ground in pain.
He was 3-for-3 on Sunday, including a home run in the fifth inning that gave St. Louis a 3-2 lead, before leaving the game. The Cardinals went on to win the game 5-4.
