Tempe, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Arizona Cardinals agreed to terms on a one-year contract with tight end Jake Ballard on Monday.

Ballard had a breakout season with the Giants in 2011, racking up 38 catches for 604 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games, including 13 starts, before tearing his ACL in New York's Super Bowl XLVI win over New England.

The 25-year-old tight then signed with the Patriots before spending the entire 2012 campaign on the physically unable to perform list.

Ballard remained with New England during training camp, but was released by the team on Aug. 30.

To make room on the roster, Arizona released tight end D.C. Jefferson.

Jefferson was selected by the Cardinals in the seventh round of April's draft and appeared in four of the team's eight games this season.
