Canadiens, Ducks swap players

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Montreal Canadiens acquired defenseman Bryan Allen from the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday in exchange for forward Rene Bourque.

Allen, 34, had one assist in six games with the Ducks this season. He missed 14 games with a lower-body injury.

The fourth overall pick in the 1998 draft, Allen has posted 29 goals and 106 assists in 716 career games with Vancouver, Florida, Carolina and Anaheim.

Bourque, 32, had two assists and a minus-9 rating in 13 games with Montreal this season.

A three-time 20-goal scorer with Calgary, Bourque failed to maintain that scoring touch with the Canadiens, who acquired him from the Flames on Jan. 12, 2012. He totaled only 21 in 141 games for Montreal.
