Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Atlanta Braves announced a one-year deal with infielder Alberto Callaspo on Monday.

Callaspo had a rough 2014 season for the Oakland Athletics, hitting just .223 with a .290 on-base percentage, four home runs, 15 doubles and 39 RBI in 127 games.

The 31-year-old Callaspo has spent the majority of his nine-year big league career at third base, but has also seen time at second, shortstop and the outfield corners. The hope is that he'll be able to handle the starting second base duties until top prospect Jose Peraza is ready.

Callaspo is a career .267 hitter over 996 games with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and A's.
