Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows is expected to miss a couple of weeks with what is being called a lower-body injury.

Burrows was hurt after blocking a shot from a San Jose player in Thursday's 4-1 loss. He managed to finish the contest but hasn't taken the ice since then and was seen wearing a walking boot in the locker room on Saturday, hours before the Canucks were to host the Edmonton Oilers.

"He's going to be out a couple of weeks, and that's where we're going to leave it. We're not calling up another forward. We'll dress an extra defenseman. I know you're going to ask 15 questions about shot blocking. Alex Burrows made the right play. If he doesn't make that play, he'd probably never kill a 5-on-3 for me again," said Canucks head coach John Tortorella.

The 32-year-old totaled 13 goals and 24 points in 47 games last year for Vancouver.
