A.J. Burnett, who had surgery last month to repair a fractured orbital bone, was placed on the 15-day disabled list along with two other Pittsburgh Pirates pitchers Wednesday.

The Pirates also placed fellow right-handers Charlie Morton and Chris Leroux on the DL and selected righty Juan Cruz to the 25-man roster.

Burnett, acquired from the Yankees in a trade before spring training, was injured while bunting when the ball from a pitching machine hit off his bat and struck him between the eye and right temple.

His move to the DL is retroactive to March 26 and he's eligible to come off April 10.

Morton, who started 29 games for the Pirates last year, had surgery in October to repair a torn labrum in his left hip and is eligible for reinstatement on April 13.

Leroux has a strained right pectoral muscle and was placed on the 60-day DL.
