Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Thursday that guard Carl Nicks has had a recurrence of an MRSA staph infection in his left foot, an injury that sidelined him for the first two games of this season.

Nicks had been experiencing soreness in his left foot on Wednesday, at which point a culture was performed to determine whether the infection had returned. Results of the culture that the team received Thursday confirmed the presence of MRSA.

The 2012 free-agent addition did play in Tampa Bay's two most recent contests after initially being cleared of the infection.

Nicks earned All-Pro honors in two straight seasons (2010-11) with the New Orleans Saints before signing a five-year, $47.5 million contract with the NFC South-rival Buccaneers in March of 2012.
