BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Bruins are coming to the defense of goalie Tim Thomas after Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo took a verbal swipe at him.

Forward Chris Kelly said Saturday the Bruins wouldn't be where they are without Thomas. And defenseman Zdeno Chara said Thomas is one of the best goalies in the NHL.

They spoke in their locker room after returning from Vancouver, where the Canucks took a 3-2 lead in the Stanley Cup finals with a 1-0 win on Friday night. Afterward, Luongo said he would have stopped the shot that went in because he doesn't wander from the crease the way Thomas does.

Several Bruins players said they're focused on Game 6 on Monday night, when the Canucks can win the Cup, and not on Luongo's comments.
