The Cleveland Browns have named Michael Lombardi vice president of player personnel.

Lombardi, most recently an analyst with the NFL Network, will join the Cleveland organization for the second time. He previously served as a scout, pro personnel director and director of player personnel from 1987 through 1995.

After a stint in the personnel department with the Philadelphia Eagles from 1997-98, Lombardi spent eight seasons with the Oakland Raiders from 1999-2007 before joining the media ranks.

During his brief time in Philadelphia, Lombardi worked with current Browns CEO Joe Banner.

Lombardi also worked in the front office with the San Francisco 49ers from 1984-86. The 49ers won Super Bowl XIX after the '84 season.
