Englewood, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker will sit out the regular season finale against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.

Welker was limited in practice this week, but was ruled out on Friday.

The 32-year-old will miss his third straight game since suffering a concussion in a 51-28 rout of the Tennessee Titans on Dec. 8. It was Welker's second concussion this season.

"Just because he is still in the protocol until he is officially cleared on that," said head coach John Fox. "We didn't want to monkey around. Again, player safety is the key and we'll just rule him out for this game."

Welker has accumulated 778 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first season with the Broncos after spending six years in New England.

Center Steve Vallos (concussion) and defensive end Derek Wolfe (illness/flu) were both also ruled out of Sunday's game.
