Englewood, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Denver Broncos signed first-round pick Shane Ray to his rookie contract on Monday.

The signing happened on the day Ray participated in his first practice with the Broncos. A pass-rushing outside linebacker from Missouri, Ray had been sidelined with a lingering toe injury.

The Broncos traded up to select Ray with the 23rd overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Ray was cited for possession of marijuana just days before the draft.

Ray was named the 2014 SEC Defensive Player of the Year, recording 65 tackles and 14 1/2 sacks in 14 games during his junior season with the Tigers.
