Breitenstein OT rushing TD helps Wofford beat Chattanooga 16-13
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Eric Breitenstein ran for 132 yards and scored the game winning touchdown in overtime to propel Wofford past Chattanooga 16-13 Saturday in a Southern Conference battle.
Wofford (8-2, 6-2) took a 10-0 lead after Donovan Johnson's 9-yard touchdown run, but Chattanooga answered with a field goal to make it 10-3 at halftime.
After both teams failed to score in the third quarter, Chattanooga (5-5, 4-3), trailing 10-3, tied the game with 2:18 to play behind Kendrix Huitt's 1-yard run, forcing overtime.
On its first and only possession of overtime, Nick Pollard put Chattanooga ahead temporarily with a 27-yard field goal.
The lead was short lived as Wofford answered on its possession. Breitenstein capped off the 25-yard drive with the game-winning, 2-yard touchdown run.
Wofford has now won six of its last seven games against Chattanooga, improving its all-time series lead to 11-8.
