The Atlanta Braves placed pitcher Paul Maholm on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a left wrist contusion.

Maholm left in the fourth inning on Saturday against the White Sox. He allowed two straight hits to start the inning before leaving. He first aggravated the wrist hitting against the Marlins on July 10.

The 31-year-old lefty is 9-9 with a 4.41 ERA in 20 starts this season.

Maholm was scheduled to pitch Thursday's series finale against the Mets. However, lefty Alex Wood will be recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to make his second career start.

Wood, 22, went three innings in his first major league start, a 4-3 loss to the Mets on June 18. He has also made 15 relief appearances for the Braves this season.
