The Atlanta Braves acquired third baseman Juan Francisco from the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday in exchange for J.J. Hoover, a minor league pitcher.

Francisco, 24, hit .196 with four home runs this spring. He appeared in 81 games with the Reds over the last three seasons, batting .284 with five home runs and 29 RBI.

Hoover, a 24-year-old right-hander, split 2011 between Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett, going 3-6 with a 2.64 earned run average in 43 games (14 starts).
