Bournemouth, England (SportsNetwork.com) - AFC Bournemouth announced on Tuesday the club has signed goalkeeper Artur Boruc to a one-year deal on a free transfer from Southampton.

Boruc, 35, spent last season with Bournemouth on loan from Southampton and made 35 appearances, helping the Cherries claim the Championship trophy and earn promotion to the Premier League for the first time in club history.

"I didn't think that (promotion would be possible) when I signed the contract," Boruc told the club's official webiste. "But, as soon as I came here, I saw a bunch of lads who were really working hard and they had their minds on football.

"They knew what they wanted to achieve and the manager has put in some great work. After a couple of games I realized we could do something and we had the belief to achieve it."

Boruc, a Poland international, made 50 appearances for Southampton after joining the south coast club from Fiorentina in 2012.

Earlier in his career, he won three consecutive Scottish Premier League titles, two Scottish League Cups and the Scottish Cup with Celtic.
