The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed left wing Nick Foligno to a three-year contract worth $9.25 million.

A restricted free agent, Foligno will earn $2.5 million for the upcoming season, $3 million in 2013-14 and $3.75 million for 2014-15.

The Blue Jackets acquired Foligno from Ottawa on July 1 in exchange for defenseman Marc Methot.

Foligno has 61 goals and 87 assists for 148 points in 351 NHL games, all with Ottawa. He scored 15 goals and added 32 assists for 47 points in 82 games last season.

The durable 24-year-old Buffalo native was selected by the Senators with the 28th overall pick of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He has played in 81 games three times in his four full NHL seasons and carries a streak of 177 consecutive games played into the 2012-13 campaign.
