Defenseman Grant Clitsome and the Columbus Blue Jackets agreed to a new two-year contract on Friday, the financial terms of which were not released.

The 26-year-old Clitsome, a ninth-round pick in the 2004 Entry Draft, contributed 4 goals, 19 points and a plus-2 rating in 31 NHL games this past season. He ranked second among Columbus defensemen in ice time at 21:16 per game. Clitsome also had 5 goals and 15 points in 32 AHL games with Springfield.

"We are pleased to have Grant signed for two more years," Blue Jackets General Manager Scott Howson said in a press release. "He is a great example of a player we drafted who has patiently developed at the collegiate and AHL levels and become a solid, dependable NHL defenseman."

Clitsome has 5 goals and 22 points in 42 career games with the Blue Jackets.
