The Columbus Blue Jackets re-signed defenseman Nikita Nikitin on Thursday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Dispatch reported it is for $4.3 million over two years, including $2.5 million in 2013-14. The 26-year-old Russian was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1.

Nikitin was acquired by the Jackets from the St. Louis Blues on November 11 in exchange for fellow rearguard Kris Russell. He finished the season with a combined seven goals and 32 points in 61 games.

Over 102 appearances in two NHL seasons, Nikitin has totaled eight goals and 41 points.
