Portland, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Portland Trail Blazers first-round draft pick C.J. McCollum had a non-operative ultrasound procedure on his broken foot and will be re-evaluated in six weeks, the team said Wednesday.
McCollum fractured the fifth metatarsal in his left foot during a training camp practice on Oct. 5. He is sidelined indefinitely.
The Blazers said the procedure McCollum underwent is designed to promote bone growth. It was performed by Dr. Robert Anderson at the OrthoCarolina Foot & Ankle Institute in Charlotte, N.C.
McCollum, a 6-foot-3 guard, was taken 10th in the draft after averaging 21.3 points in four seasons at Lehigh. He played just 12 games his senior season after breaking the same bone in his foot. The two-time Patriot League Player of the Year is the all-time leading scorer in league history with 2,361 points.
