Britain's opposition Labour Party says former Prime Minister Tony Blair is returning to domestic politics for the first time since quitting power in 2007. He'll be an adviser on London's Olympics.

Blair, who was prime minister for a decade from 1997, hasn't held any political post in the U.K. since he stepped down.

Labour Party leader Ed Miliband told reporters Thursday it was "right to use his undoubted skill and experience." Blair will advise the Labour Party on legacy projects tied to the Summer Games.

Blair helped to bring the Summer Games to London with a frantic round of diplomacy in 2005.

However, Miliband stressed that Blair's role would be limited, saying a "new generation" of lawmakers was now setting the party's policies and direction.
