NEW YORK (Reuters) - The winless Buffalo Bills re-signed free-agent quarterback Levi Brown on Tuesday, one day after releasing former starter Trent Edwards.

Brown, taken in the seventh round of this year's draft, had been cut by the Bills before the start of the season.

The team did not release the terms of his contract.

Edwards, a fourth-year player, had struggled with injuries and consistency and was benched after the Bills (0-3) lost their first two games.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, who started Sunday's 38-30 loss to the New England, is expected to continue in that role this week against the New York Jets with Brian Brohm his backup.
