The Buffalo Bills have placed kicker Rian Lindell on injured reserve with a broken shoulder.

Lindell suffered the injury while making a touchdown-saving tackle against the Jets on November 6. He was initially given a 2-6 week prognosis.

"I didn't think it would take this long," said Lindell on the team's website. "I've never really broken anything, especially a shoulder. I tore my labrum when I first got here and I was able to kick with that. That was my left shoulder and that was a little different. This is a much sharper pain."

Lindell made 13-of-15 field goal attempts in 2011.

Dave Rayner has taken over kicking duties for the Bills. He has made 4-of-5 field goal attempts in four games.
