Bethune-Cookman and Grambling State University announced Friday their football programs will play each other in a home-and-home series beginning in the 2014 season.

The programs released part of their future schedules that will include a Grambling State trip to B-CU on Sept. 13, 2014, and a meeting in Grambling, La., on Sept. 12, 2015.

The last time these teams met was in 2004 at the Proctor & Gamble Ohio Classic, where Grambling edged out a 24-23 victory. From 1984-1988, the programs met yearly.

Bethune-Cookman athletic director Lynn W. Thompson said in a release that the goal of adding this series is to boost out-of-conference competition over the next few years.

"We are elevating the non-conference portion of our schedule, and as we complete the schedule for the next few years, it will be sprinkled with opponents from BCS conferences as well as FCS power conferences in our attempt to improve the out-of-conference experience for our student-athletes," Thompson said.
