The Bengals have placed linebacker Vontaze Burfict on the physically-unable-to-perform list. Burfict, who underwent microfracture knee surgery in January, is hoping to return for the start of the season, but he'll have to sit out the first six weeks of the year if he isn't activated by then.

The Bengals secured a solid insurance policy this offseason with the free agent addition of A.J. Hawk. Burfict battled a host of injuries last season and was limited to just five games.

First-round offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi was placed on the non-football injury list as he recovers from the torn ACL he suffered at Texas A&M last season. Defensive end Margus Hunt (back) and linebacker Sean Porter also joined Burfict on the PUP list for the start of training camp, which officially opens on Thursday.
